Small sailboat racing was fun again for those that participated on Sat Sept 13th at Duncan Bay Boat Club.  We were lucky and the rain held off until we were almost finished.  No racer went into the water unintentionally.  The awning by the beach kept us dry for the awards ceremony and pot-luck dinner.  Amy Everts and every one at Duncan Bay Boat Club were very helpful with providing us with extra tables and other needed supplies.  The committee members that helped with ALL the work were great.  Bill Elliott, Randy Lee, Bob Nissley, Don McKinnon Rick Gillig were great help in procuring the boats and getting them ready to go in the water  Roger Bentner was great during the race for marking one of the bouys and delivering people where needed.  He even provided race side seating for those wanting to get closer than the beach or take pictures of the racers along the course.  Hopefully the beach fire helped keep the people on shore warm.  The committee boat was very snug as we started and finished each racer.  Committee boat members were Jan Elliott, Sue Kowzan, Lyn Nissley and Jackie McCardell.  Luckily we had Vern on board to help set the anchor and pull it and help us back to the dock.  Everybody that came helped in someway so I hope we have not forgotten anybody.

There were suggestions for next year.  One is to have the race in July or August.  Also it was suggested that we add another class for a doubles class.  Another idea to get more women and beginners trained to sail is to offer classes on Tues before the pot luck.
