2005 DBBC Rendezvous at Government Bay

This year’s rendezvous was a memorable event for all. Over 24 boats attended including; MissTee, TeemZooma, Fifty/Fifty, Isle Venture, Stingray, Thor, Catena, Liesel, Foot Prints sister ship, Murray Time, Enchantress, Step Two, Sun Cat, Time Out II, Joint Effort, Freedoms Turn, Dream Maker, Piddles, Gayla-Malia, True North, Wind Trail, Hey Jude, Terrapin, Cetacean.

As the group enjoyed gourmet delights and camaraderie shore side, Missy from Wind Trail suddenly sprung forth from the surrounding forest screaming in terror.  She ran through the crowd toward her dinghy, all the while shouting that a bear was approaching the site and prepared to attack.

As we looked on to the forest, we did see a rather vicious and menacing creature move toward us.  That sent an alarm through the crowd of adults, as we began to forsake our possessions and hit the dinghies for a quick escape.

In the middle of chaos and panic, one young boy (Catena) approached the monster, did a quick study of the beast and declared:

“Don’t worry, he will not hurt us. He is not a real bear---I can tell by his shoes!”

Alas, the day was saved by the bravery and wisdom of a young Duncan Bay boater.

The rendezvous continued into the night with a great bonfire (Miss Tee & Stingray), smores (Suncat), and wonderful fireworks (Isle Venture).

A big salute to the bear (Suncat) for making the 2005 Rendezvous an adventure we will not soon forget.
